WASHINGTON – Congressman Eugene Vindman (Va.-07) released the following statement on last night’s aviation crash at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.
“This is a sad day for our region and the country. My heart goes out to the families of the passengers and crew who lost their lives aboard American Airlines Flight 5342 and the soldiers aboard the U.S. Army helicopter that collided last night at the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.
“I share my deepest appreciation to the brave first responders, including fire fighters and police officers from Prince William County, who rushed to the scene to assist with critical recovery efforts throughout the night and are ongoing this morning. Specifically, we’re grateful to the Seventh District’s members of local Fire Truck 23 who are operating Fire Boat 512.
“My office is closely monitoring the situation and will provide any assistance we can. I look forward to seeing a full investigation to understand the scope of this accident.”
