Washington, D.C. — Today, Congressman Eugene Vindman (Va.-07) released the following statement following reports that a resident of Virginia’s Seventh District is now in federal custody after a nearly five-year investigation into who planted pipe bombs blocks from the U.S. Capitol on January 5, 2021.
“Earlier today, I was informed that a resident of Virginia’s Seventh District has been arrested for placing pipe bombs near the Democratic and Republican national committees in Washington, D.C., ahead of the January 6th insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.
“I am grateful to the law enforcement professionals at the Federal Bureau of Investigation for their hard work and diligence in this years-long effort to identify and apprehend this individual.
“While every American is entitled to due process, political violence has no place in our country. I unequivocally condemn this attempted attack and am thankful no one was harmed.”
