Washington, D.C. – Congressman Eugene Vindman (Va.-07) today released the following statement after voting for the Law-Enforcement Innovate to De-Escalate Act.
“As a former prosecutor, I worked closely with law enforcement officers who put themselves in harm’s way every day to keep our communities safe.
“Our officers deserve the strongest support and the best tools available. Expanding access to nonlethal options gives them more flexibility in dangerous situations and helps protect lives.
“This bill strengthens public safety and backs law enforcement with another tool to do their jobs effectively and safely. In addition to this legislation, I support commonsense policies to help our officers do their jobs by getting illegal guns off our streets and out of the hands of criminals.”
