Vindman Announces Winners of 2026 Congressional Art Competition

Washington, D.C. — Today, Congressman Vindman announced the winners of the 2026 Congressional Art Competition for high school students in Virginia’s Seventh Congressional District.  

Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in each congressional district. Winning pieces are displayed in the U.S. Capitol and on the official Congressional Art Competition page for one year.   

“The entries for this year’s Congressional Art Competition show just how many talented young artists call Virginia’s Seventh District home,” said Vindman. “I’m proud to celebrate their achievements and look forward to seeing the winning student’s piece hanging in the U.S. Capitol alongside winners from across the country. Thank you to all who participated!” 

Winning piece “Jazz & Groceries”

First place was awarded to Marilyn Williams, who attends Charles J. Colgan High School in Prince William County, for her piece titled “Jazz & Groceries.”

Second place was awarded to Lucy Miller, who is home-schooled in Spotsylvania County, for her piece titled “The Watcher.”

Third place was awarded to both Leah Tate of Orange County for “Golden Hour” and Ericka Monterrosa of Prince William County for “Flan of Still Life.” Leah attends Orange County High School and Ericka attends Charles J. Colgan High School.  

Vindman hosted a receptionfor students who participated in the competition to showcase their work and to celebrate the artistic talent across Virginia’s Seventh District.
