Washington, D.C. — Congressman Eugene Vindman (Va.-07) today launched an opportunity for Virginia elementary school students to participate in his office’s inaugural Seven Books for VA-07 Reading Challenge.
This initiative celebrates and encourages young readers who are passionate about exploring new stories and ideas. This year’s theme, “Caring for the Community,” invites students to read books that highlight the importance of supporting, uplifting, and protecting those around us. Stories may also focus on caring for the environment, friendship, and familial support.
“As a dad, I understand the importance of teaching our kids to read instead of scroll. Some of my favorite memories are reading with my kids and seeing their curiosity grow with every page,” said Vindman. “This challenge is about inspiring that same excitement while helping students discover stories that connect them to their neighbors and communities. I am hopeful that this challenge will promote literacy, inspire curiosity, and empower the next generation of readers.”
Students who complete the challenge by reading seven books before mid-December will be honored with a Letter of Congressional Recognition. Participating students can log their progress by printing and completing a reading log on the Congressman’s website.
Reading logs must be submitted online per the instructions on the Congressman’s website by Friday, December 19 at 5:00 PM. Happy reading!
